Hore Stores

𝟴𝟬 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦

Look around the country (never mind our town) there aren’t many places like Hore’s Stores left. For 80 years, this family run department store has been a fixture on South Main Street in Wexford…..reliable and still run by the same family that opened it. Johnnie and Nellie Hore set it up in the 1940s. Since then, it’s passed through three generations, with the fourth now getting stuck in. That kind of continuity is getting less and less in the modern world but for us, it still matters.
John Hore explained “People come in, we say hello and we say goodbye. You don’t get that in too many places anymore.” That small courtesy along with a familiar face behind the counter is what keeps people coming back.
Menswear, womenswear, sportswear, new designers, shoes, accessories each section doing what it’s always done…giving people in Wexford somewhere to shop. Still owned and run by Declan, Niall, Jenny and the wider Hore family, the store continues to do what it’s done best: show up, serve the town.
