Wexford Coffee Roasters
Stroll down Trimmers Lane, and you’ll find Wexford Coffee Roasters—quietly ‘brewing’ its way into the hearts of the local coffee community since opening in July 2021. What began as a humble venture is percolating into a local institution, much thanks to the passion and dedication of Sean, his wife Luisa, and Sean’s father Shane and resident barista/artist Oliva…..oh and of course fantastic coffee!
Sean McAogain began his craft in Dublin, where he spent a decade delving into the world of importing and exporting specialty beans. “I wanted to bring something unique back home,” said Sean. Returning to Wexford, he became what we believe to be the county’s sole coffee roaster. Quality is what their operation has been built on. “We operate under strict quality control,” Sean explains. “We spend a little more on premium beans” Their commitment is evident in offerings like their Colombian single-origin coffee, which Sean describes with a smile as “a bit boozy”—a rich, robust brew that leaves a great impression. (The guys have their new house blend, set to launch in the coming days.)
Luisa, the welcoming face of the café, emphasised the importance of personal connection. “Our personalities go into every experience,” “Courtesy is key, but more than that, we treat everyone like friends.” This was telling and clearly resonates with the customers. During our visit, customers couldn’t wait to share their affection for the place. Mariana, originally from Portugal, recounted how she had her first date here with her partner and has been a daily visitor ever since. “It’s like a second home, they can’t keep me away, they are probably sick of the sight of me, I never leave” she beamed.
Adding a pop of creativity to the team is Olivia, their in-house barista and artist. With them for almost four years, Olivia recently helped design a window display that captured the title of Best Shop Window at FLEADH 2024.
When inside the cosy offering, customers can choose between a dark roast and a medium roast and complementing the coffee —-tasty toasties and sweet treats!
A must visit!
