The Red Kettle

Aidan Rea and his wife Jean have run The Red Kettle on Mallin St. for the past twelve years, this little cafe have been quietly achieving what many would say is impossible: convincing Irish people that great food doesn’t need chips. As Aidan puts it, “Everywhere has chips, so we focus on our salads. I want our customers leaving really impressed.” Judging by the steady stream of salads flying out of the kitchen, it’s a successful strategy. Their salad selections feature some creations like black pudding with bacon and pear, chicken chorizo with crispy bacon, a tasty looking Greek salad, and plenty more inventive options to keep things fresh and exciting. In this land of spuds, The Red Kettle are remaining proudly chip-free—no apologies! For research purposes (integrity and all that), we also tried Aidan’s much-raved-about coffee—over 200+ online reviews can’t be wrong. And you know what? We’ll definitely be back again!!
A big shoutout to Aidan, Jean and all the team at the Red Kettle: Stefano, Aoife, and Anna for over a decade of great food and strong coffee!
